About
Objective
The aim of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Undergraduate Program is to train psychological counselors who, after a four-year theoretical and practical education, have ethical values beyond theory, are open to development, can manage crisis situations, have leadership qualities, follow new developments in their field, are open to self-development, can approach events from different perspectives, and have learned and applied their profession in its implicit dimensions. Graduates of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling undergraduate program work as psychological counselors in public and private institutions.
Mission
To present theoretical knowledge and applications of the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling for the benefit of individuals. Our mission is to carry out theoretical and practical studies together in order to provide guidance and psychological counseling services to different segments of society, especially the Turkish National Education System, at a professional level; thus, contributing to the universal knowledge accumulation on the one hand, and offering realistic and valid solutions to individual problems on the other.
Vision
To train psychological counselors who are sensitive to the changes and problems of individuals, society, the world and all creatures, who have grasped their profession, the requirements of the age, and new paradigms, who have adopted a humanistic and existential philosophy of life, who know the competence and limits of their profession and have acquired ethical values; who use information and communication technologies effectively; and who can provide qualified psychological services in institutions such as education, health, justice, social services, industry, etc.
Graduation Requirements
A student who is about to graduate must first successfully complete all of his/her courses and take at least 147 credits and 240 ECTS courses.
Guidance and psychological counselor candidates who successfully complete the four-year Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department courses at the undergraduate level are employed as Guidance Psychological Counselors;
in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education,
in the Guidance and Research Centers of the Ministry of National Education,
in private and state-owned private educational institutions,
in the General Directorate of Security and the Ministry of Justice,
in state-owned and private social service institutions.
In addition, our graduates can also work by opening their own counseling centers.
