Objective
The aim of the special education department is to provide the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of special education, to train qualified special education teacher candidates who can be employed in and out of our country, and to ensure that faculty members and students make quality and original publications in national and international fields.
Mission
To train qualified educators in the education of individuals with special needs and to create, develop and disseminate new knowledge, theory and research.
Vision
The vision of the special education department is to train teachers who aim to enable individuals with special needs to become independent, productive and active participants in society like other individuals in society.
Graduation Requirements
Students who have reached the graduation stage must have successfully completed all their courses and must have taken a minimum of 157 credits and 240 ECTS courses.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of Special Education Teaching Programme have the opportunity to work in many fields. Graduates can find the opportunity to make a career in different fields in public institutions and private sector. Graduates of this programme can be appointed as special education teachers in special education schools serving within the scope of the Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services or they can work in Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres. They can also have an academic career by continuing their education through master's and doctoral degrees.
