Objective

In the 4-year undergraduate programme of the Department of Social Studies Education, it is aimed to provide students with professional development and to be successful in field knowledge and general culture courses.

Mission

To create modern, technology-supported teaching environments, culture, art and sports activity areas and applications that will contribute to the academic and social development of students, to provide the necessary infrastructure for Social Studies education and teaching, to closely follow the innovations in the field, to follow domestic and international publications, to make use of technology, to conduct research on the disciplines under the structure of Social Studies, to investigate how the achievements of these disciplines can be given more effectively within the scope of Social Studies course, and to train responsible teacher candidates who know social studies teaching methods and techniques, who are inquisitive, inquisitive and have strong communication skills.

Vision

To train social studies teachers and academicians who think scientifically for the needs of the country, are open to innovations, can use contemporary information technologies, learn to learn, have gained the competencies of the information society, are focused on service to society, internalise Atatürk's Principles and Reforms, contribute to social problems related to education with scientific knowledge production and applications by providing a qualified education in the field of teacher training and educational sciences. To bring new methods and techniques to our country by following the developments in the world related to social studies education and teaching. To train future academicians by conducting graduate level research on social studies education. To be in cooperation and communication with domestic and foreign organisations and institutions that can contribute to the professional development of social studies teacher candidates.

Graduation Requirements

Students who have reached the graduation stage must have successfully completed all their courses and must have taken a minimum of 157 credits and 240 ECTS courses.

Employment Opportunities

Social studies teachers have the opportunity to work in many fields. Graduates can find the opportunity to make a career in different fields in public institutions and private sector. They can work as Social Studies Teachers in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and private organisations. They can also have an academic career by continuing their education through master's and doctoral degrees.
